Blind Review – Homefront

Invading Stores Tuesday Homefront is publisher THQ’s first real attempt to assault the Call of Duty Throne. Unlike last year’s Medal of Honor from EA, THQ has chosen not to compete head to head with Activision in the crowded Fall, preferring instead to bring their modern military shooter to market in a lighter Spring market. Although March is not traditionally considered the best time for a major release, more and more publishers are pursuing the same strategy of getting out of CoD’s way. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 found some success last year, but can Homefront measure up in terms of[…]

Blind Review – Halo: Reach

Born On Whatever Day UNSC was Founded Long awaited, Reach is the fourth installment in the Halo franchise following the story of Master Chief. At the close of Halo 3 our favorite Spartan was stricken with a severe spinal injury. Reach continues mere weeks later with Master Chief waking up aboard a VA hospital ship. The opening sequence explains that the spinal damage is irreversible and Master Chief will never be able to walk again, let alone fight. A bold new direction, to be sure. The hospital sequence acts as a tutorial for the new mechanics. At first you are[…]

Blind Review: Dragon Age: Origins: A Gamer Blahhhg Exclusive

As a young site that still retains that baby-fresh smell, Gamer Blahhhg does not yet have the kind of industry pull needed to gain early access to reviewable code upcoming games, or even free review copies of new titles when they launch. Other sites might shill themselves out to publishers, trading inflated scores for free merchandise or all expenses paid trips to exclusive “press” events. Gamer Blahhhg has more integrity than that, or at least I’ve never been tempted so as to prove one way or the other. But I don’t think the fact that I haven’t had a chance[…]
